Terms of service
Last updated: September 22, 2026
The plain-language agreement between The Scuup and its clients. These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and by Canada's federal laws that apply here, including Ontario's consumer protection legislation. Nothing in this agreement takes away a right that legislation gives you.
Who we are
The Scuup is a dog waste removal service operating in Hamilton, Waterdown and Burlington, Ontario. You can reach us at [email protected] or on Instagram at @the.scuup.
What the service includes
We do a full sweep of your yard to collect and properly dispose of dog waste. A visit takes around 15 minutes. We bring our own bags and handle disposal. We do not enter your home, we do not handle waste other than dog waste, and we clean only the area we agreed on. You do not need to be home.
Your first visit is free
The first visit costs nothing. To start a plan we ask for a payment card through Stripe, our payment processor, but we do not charge it until after your free first visit. If you cancel before then, nothing is charged and there is no further obligation.
Schedule and access
You get a fixed day each week. You agree to give us safe access to the yard on that day — an unlocked gate, or the code or key we agreed on — and to keep dogs indoors or secured while we work. If we arrive and cannot get in, we will let you know that day; that visit counts as provided for the week, and we will do our best to fit you in again if the schedule allows.
Weather
We work rain or shine. If weather makes a visit genuinely unsafe or impossible, we reschedule it at no extra cost, or credit it to your next month if rescheduling is not practical.
Prices and billing
Prices are in Canadian dollars and include HST. Subscription plans are billed monthly in advance. One-time visits are paid per visit. Before any plan starts, we will confirm in writing what you are signing up for: the price, what it includes, how often we come and when you are charged.
Renewals and changes
A monthly plan continues month to month until you cancel. We will not renew you into a different plan, raise your price or change these terms without telling you in advance and getting your agreement first: any change takes effect only after you accept it. For price changes, current clients get at least 30 days notice by email.
Cancelling
You can cancel at any time, for any reason, with no penalty and no cancellation fee. Email [email protected] or send us an Instagram message — one message is enough, and we will confirm in writing. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and you keep the visits you paid for until then. We will never require a phone call, a form or a retention conversation to let you leave.
If we damage something
We treat your property as if it were ours. If we damage something while working, tell us within 14 days and we will repair it, replace it or compensate you — whichever makes the most sense for what happened. We cannot take responsibility for damage that was already there or for objects hidden in tall grass that we could not reasonably see, but if that ever comes up we will talk it through with you rather than hide behind the fine print.
If we need to stop serving you
We may end the service if the yard is unsafe to work in, if a dog is aggressive toward our team, if we repeatedly cannot get access, or if an invoice goes unpaid after a reminder. We will tell you why, give you reasonable notice and refund any period you paid for but did not receive.
Questions and complaints
Talk to us first — email [email protected] and we will answer. If we cannot resolve something between us, you keep every right Ontario's consumer protection legislation gives you, including the right to take the matter to the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery or to court.
Questions about these terms? Email [email protected] before you sign up — we would rather explain than surprise you.
